RADOX® is a trademark of Huber + Suhner AG

What does RADOX® mean?

The registered trademark RADOX® from HUBER+SUHNER stands for electron beam crosslinked insulation materials. RADOX® insulations offer excellent resistance to thermal, chemical, electrical and mechanical stress.

Advantages of RADOX® materials

RADOX® materials do not melt at extremely high temperatures and remain dimensionally stable even in the event of a short circuit. RADOX® railroad cables require only reduced wall thickness due to their excellent insulation properties. This massively reduces space requirements and cable weight. The RADOX® traction cable range has been successfully tested in accordance with the European cable standards EN 50264 and EN 50306 and the standards GOST 20.57.406-81, method 204-1 as well as GOST 17491-80. This offers the customer an additional safety factor.

Temperature range RADOX® railroad cables

-50°C - +120°C with a service life of 20,000 hours (tested in Russian laboratories)

Insulation and jacketing materials according to European cable standards

The European cable standards specify demanding requirements for mechanical, thermal, chemical and fire protection properties. The requirements regarding fire protection are described in the respective cable standards EN 50264 and EN 50306 as well as in the fire protection standard EN 45545-2. The halogen-free, electron beam crosslinked RADOX® materials meet the highest requirements (M) of the respective standard or hazard level (HL3).

Properties

  • Extra low temperature
  • Especially oil resistant
  • Especially fuel resistant

Requirements

-40°C IRM 902, 24 h/72 h, 100°C (duration depends on cable standard 24 h = EN 50306-2)
IRM 903, 168 h, 70°C
